Generally, you need to have papers to proof your martial status, and your identity.

All weddings ceremonies are conducted in English. You will need the following original documents to bring with you:

Passport (10 years)
Birth certificate for both Bride & Groom
In case of divorced - decree absolute
If widowed, death certificate, and the previous marriage certificate
If under 18 year's old, letter of consent from parents or guardian, stamped by a solicitor
Anglican Ceremony Baptism Certificate for at least one of either Bride or Groom
Catholic Ceremony Baptism Certificates for both Bride and Groom
Affidavit for UK passport, must be obtained from a solicitor
If not from UK, "A freedom to marry certificate" from your country's embassy - original document only.
Wedding couples must arrive at least 5 working days before the day of wedding. Original papers must be presented at the town hall.
